Indigenous Navy & ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’

Indian Navy has turned from a buyer navy to a producer  Navy as it has been producing ships and other machinery indigenously. The Navy has been increasing the construction of these heavy machinery as it has been giving contracts to Indian builders.

as of now, 65 ships and submarines are under construction in Indian shipyards. Warship design bureau which has the mastery in designing high-end ships. INS Imphal was outfitted and commenced sea trials in April 2023 ships. INS Imphal is the first ship to fire BrahMos Missile before getting commissioned.

At this time it is important for India to become self-sufficient in the Department of Defence for two major reasons: first is the amount of money that flows into some other country if it the machinery is purchased from another country. By construction of machinery in India, the money remains in the country. It also generates employment and the cost is also reduced. The positives are more than the negatives.

India needs to be self-reliant in its production of machinery because it has to have the technology, the capacity, and the power to build its weapons and machinery on its own terms, requirements, needs, and timing. China is a country that has achieved self-sufficiency in Defence production and has been proud of its achievement as it does not depend on another country for its Defence armaments.
