The Israeli military said "Civilians of Gaza City, evacuate south for your own safety and the safety of your families and distance yourself from Hamas terrorists who are using you as human shields". It further said "Hamas terrorists are hiding in Gaza City inside tunnels underneath houses and inside buildings populated with innocent Gazan civilians."

The Gaza strip was struck overnight at 750 military targets in northern Gaza, including tunnels where Hamas militants were said to be hiding.

A ground invasion by Israel will cause severe damage and destruction in Gaza. This invasion also risks the lives of those held hostages by Israel. Israel attacks have costed the lives of 1500 Palestinians since the war erupted.
