In a new development in the ongoing hiatus in the Israel-Hamas war, Israel has received a list of Hostages to be released by Hamas today.

Extended truce

Last week, Israel and Hamas agreed to a temporary break in the ongoing war. Israel agreed to stop the bombardment in northern and southern Gaza on the condition that Hamas would release some hostages.

This time of truce will also be used for the entry of Humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

Both sides agreed to extend the truce by two more days.  The Israeli government received the list of hostages to be released today and has sent notices to the families of the "to be released hostages" who have been held for more than the past 50 days.

The number of hostages to be released today is not been released till now. Hamas has released a total of 50 hostages in this truce since Friday.

The deal between Hamas and Israel was based on the exchange of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel in exchange for hostages held by Hamas. The 50 released hostages included 17 Thai nationals and the Philippines and one dual Russian-Israeli national.

According to reports, around 20 more hostages are set to be released today.

Israeli Prime Minister's office took to X ( former Twitter) to announce that "Announcement from the Prime Minister's Office: The Government has approved the inclusion of 50 female prisoners in the list of prisoners eligible to be released in the event that a release of additional Israeli hostages is carried out."

Israel Defence Forces spokesperson Daniel Hagari said that one of the released hostages was admitted to the hospital as she was kept in critical condition in Gaza by Hamas. Hagri said "Last night, Elma Evraham was released from Hamas captivity. She was rushed to a hospital in critical condition. Elma is 84 years old. She's a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother. During the Hamas massacre of October 7th, Elma was taken hostage by savage terrorists. She was dragged into Gaza on the back of a motorbike. Elma was in Hamas captivity for 51 days and nights." "She was kept in a harsh condition. She was denied life saving medication. She was not visited by the Red Cross. When she was released from captivity, she was in a critical condition."

Hagri also talked about the remaining hostages and the poor conditions in which they are made to live. He urged the international community especially the Red Cross to use all their efforts and make sure that their people are getting the required medical care.  He said "Elma is a reminder of her critical mission. Now she's home. She's being taken care of, but who's taking care of other hostages in Gaza? Over 150 of our hostages, men, women, children, babies, who's taking care of them? Who is holding a 10 month old baby, Kfir Bibas. I'll tell you, ruthless terrorists, are holding him hostage in Gaza. " He further said "We call on the international organization, especially the Red Cross to use every tool at their disposal to gain access to our hostages, to make sure they're receiving the medical care they need.
