The four properties, all classified as agricultural land, are situated in Mumbake village and are owned by Ibrahim's family. These properties have been put up for auction with a reserve price of Rs 19 lakh.

Authorities seized these properties under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act (SAFEMA), as confirmed by an official SAFEMA statement. The properties consist of agricultural land in Dawood Ibrahim's ancestral village, named Mumbake, in Khed, Ratnagiri District, Maharashtra.

The statement from SAFEMA mentioned that several bids have been received, and the bidding process is scheduled to occur between 2:00 pm and 3:30 pm on January 5.

Previously, in 2017 and 2020, SAFEMA auctioned off more than 17 properties belonging to the underworld don. Lawyer and Shiv Sena member Ajay Srivastava had bid for a series of shops in 2001, which are still entangled in a legal tender. Srivastava expressed optimism about acquiring the deed to Dawood's ancestral home, intending to establish a Sanatan Pathshala (school) there.

"In 2001, the auction was conducted by the Income Tax Department, but the problem with the department was that they did not offer the possession of the property, and I am still fighting for that in court. The case is pending in the high court. In 2020, I participated in the auction for Ibrahim's bungalow in Ratnagiri, where I established Sanatan Pathshala in the style of madrassas. Under the trust, I have built an educational institute there, and its construction will commence soon," Srivastava stated.

Dawood Ibrahim, a prime accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, resided in Mumbake village before relocating to Mumbai in 1983. He left India after the series of bomb blasts that claimed the lives of 257 people.

Ibrahim is designated as a "Global Terrorist" by the United Nations under United Nations Security Resolution 1267 and is also listed under the Fourth Schedule of the UAPA Act, 1967. He operates an international terrorist network known as D-Company.
