Man suspected of killing 18 people in Maine Shooting, US found dead
The suspect of mass shooting in the US state of Maine, in the city of Lewiston was found dead by a likely self-inflicted gunshot wound on October 28, Friday.
The suspect was accused of killing 18 people and injuring 13 other shooting episode in Maine.
The security forces were after the suspect investigating the case since October 25, Wednesday. The mass shooting incident of October 26 was one of the most deadliest in the history of the state.
The 40 year old suspect Robert R. Card, was found dead in the woods near the neighbouring town of Lisbon Falls. This was close to the place where police earlier found his abandoned vehicle after the shooting incident.
While thanking the security personnel, the Governor of Maine, Janet Mills told reporters that "He is dead." He further added "Like many people, I am breathing a sigh of relief tonight, knowing that Robert Card is no longer a threat to anyone ... Now is the time to heal."
According to officials, the suspect who was a US reservist fired at many people at the "just in time" recreation bowling alley and then at "Schemengees Bar & Grille Restaurant" killing many people.
After the incident, the authorities asked people to stay in their homes, close down shops and be vigilant.
On Friday, the Maine State Police lifted an order which kept thousands of people confined to their homes.
According to media reports, the suspect was also suffering from certain mental illness and he also herd voices.
