In a recent revelation, Union Minister for State Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, disclosed in a written reply to Lok Sabha that 46,631 Kashmiri migrant families, comprising 1,57,967 individuals, have migrated from the valley due to security reasons. The data, provided by the Government of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, underscores the significant challenges faced by these families.

Responding to Lok Sabha MP Kalaben Mohanbhai Delkar's inquiries, MoS Rai emphasized that the government is actively addressing the situation. Apart from those registered with the Relief Organisation (Migrant), J-K, several Kashmiri migrant families have relocated to different parts of the country.

MoS Rai outlined government initiatives to rehabilitate Kashmiri migrants, including providing employment to 5,675 individuals. He highlighted ongoing efforts to construct 6,000 transit accommodation units in the Kashmir valley, with 880 flats already completed.

Moreover, Rai informed the parliament about the launch of an online portal in August 2021, enabling Kashmiri migrants to lodge grievances related to encroachment, change of title, mutation, and distress sale. The government has successfully retrieved 2924 Kanals and 19.55 Marlas of land through this portal.

In addressing the basic needs of Kashmiri migrant families, Rai stated that ration cards have been issued to those without them. Additionally, Ayushman Sehat Cards have been provided to families registered for domicile certificates. The government is extending the benefits of social security schemes, including Ladli Beti and marriage assistance, to these families.

To streamline services, an online platform for registration and issuance of certificates has been launched, resulting in the issuance of 160,856 domicile certificates, 2,035 Resident of Backward Area (RBA) certificates, 902 EWS certificates, and 31,672 migrant certificates so far, as stated by MoS Rai in his written reply.
