Mukhtar Ansari Death: Criminal cases and series of convictions, Ansari was a lawmaker with criminal history

Mukhtar Ansari Death: Mukhtar fell unconscious at a district jail on Thursday night after which he was taken to the Rani Durgavati Medical College. Few hours later, the doctors declared him death. The hospital staff declared the cause of death as Cardiac Arrest while his family alleged that he was poisoned.

Mukhtar Ansari criminal History

The Gangster turned politician was booked for 65 criminal cases from murder to extortion.
Ansari was 15 years old when he entered the world of crime with him getting first booked for criminal intimidation in Gazipur. In 1986, another case was registered against him for murder in Ghazipur. He was part of a contract mafia circle. In the next decade, he got another 14 serious charges lodged against him making him a known gangster.

He was given jail sentence in 2005 and he has been serving in the prisons of UP and Punjab ever since until his death.
He had 28 criminal cases registered against him including those of murder and seven cases under the UP's Gangster Act registered against him since 2005.
He was convicted for 8 cases since 2022 and facing trial for 21 other cases in different courts.
Earlier in March, Ansari was given life time imprisonment by the Varanasi MP/MLA court for fraudulently obtaining Arms license.

List of Convictions

Ansari was given imprisonment for 8 cases in the past 18 months and was given life imprisonment in 2 cases.

In December 2023, Mukhtar was given five years and six month imprisonment by Varanasi MP/MLA court for giving bomb threat to the family of Nand Kishore Rungta (BJP Leader) who wad kidnapped by Ansari. Mukhtar threatened Mahavir Prasad Rungta by giving him bomb threats.

In 2023, Gazipur MP/MLA court gave him 10 years of life imprisonment in a gangster case.

In June 2023, Varanasi MP/MLA court gave him life imprisonment for the murder of Awadesh Rai, borther of Ajay Rai(UP Congress President).

In April 2023, the Ghazipur MP/MLA court gave him imprisonment for 10 years for the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai.

In September 2022, Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court awarded 5 yrs of imprisonment for gangster cases against him.

September 21, 2022, he was given 7 years of Imprisonment for threatening the jailer of Lucknow District Jail.

The Uttar Pradesh government approached SC to bring back Ansari to UP jail from Ropar Jail in Punjab.

In 2022, the of Ansari's gang faced the wrath of UP police with police seizing and demolishing illegal property of Rs 609 crore belonging to the gang.

The police also stopped illegal business, contracts and tenders worth Rs 215 crore.
