Mumbai Indian fans are going through a rough face caused by the team management when they appointed Hardik Pandya as the captain for next year's IPL and removed Rohit Sharma from captaincy.
The era of Rohit's captaincy ended
Rohit has been with Mumbai Indians since 2011 and took over the responsibility of captaincy in the year 2013 bringing the cup home that year. Rohit has been the captain ever since and has brought the team to new heights. He became a permanent face of MI. The team has made visible progress under his able leadership.
This is the reason why MI fans did not even think about this in their wildest dream, at least not this year. Rohit Sharma showed excellent leadership skills throughout the World Cup even though India did not win it. Rohit has been good with the bat as well. Cricket fans have been admiring Rohit Sharma recently.
Cricketing fans also showed their concerns for the hitman after India lost the World Cup this year. Now this decision has broken their hearts and has increased their concern for Rohit.
Mumbai Indians loosing Fanbase
As soon as this decision was known to MI fans they unfollowed the official account of the team on Social Media. Mumbai Indians lost 400,000 Twitter followers and 150,000 Instagram followers within an hour of the announcement. This number shows the fan base which was loyal to Rohit Sharma and was heartbroken after the decision.
Mahela Jayawardene backed the decision by saying that it was taken by keeping the future in perspective and making the team future-ready.
Burning Jersey
Fans are not ready to accept this decision and have been expressing their anger through various means. Fans have even burned the jersey of MI.
