Nagpur woke up to flood, heavy rains disturb life
On Friday midnight until the morning of Saturday, Nagpur witnessed heavy rainfall causing flood like situation in low lying area. Heavy rains caused severe water logging in the city. Water entered houses in the low lying area. Administration took up the task of shifting people from the flooded areas to the safer zones.
According to administration, the airport area has received rainfall of 106mm until 05:30am Saturday morning. Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis who is also from Nagpur says that he is continuously monitoring the situation. He took to X(formerly Twitter) to inform that the Ambazari lake is flooded affecting nearby areas. He said “There has been incessant rainfall due to which the Ambazari lake is overflowing. The low-lying area around it is affected more due to this. Other parts of the city too are affected,”
Teams of National Disaster Response Force(NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have taken to action to rescue people and shift them to safer places.
The Nagpur Municipal Corporation has advised people to not leave their houses unless they have to undertake important work. Schools have been closed for the day. Sever water logging has also affected transportation as roads are filled with water.
IMD has alert for sever rainfall , thunderstorm and lightning at isolated areas of Nagpur, Bhandara and Gondia areas.

District Information office has informed that schools and offices will remain close for the day "Schools and colleges in Nagpur city will remain closed today. As the rain continues, the district administration has appealed to the citizens not to step out of their homes unless necessary".
Nagpur Municipal corporation has also advised people to not cross the bridge as water level has risen" Do not cross the bridge as water is rising in the river channels. Cross the bridge only after the water recedes. The water of Ambazari Lake has overflowed. So don't pay attention to any rumours. No one should attempt to approach the pond or overflow".
