The project's debut fell on the first day of the Gujarat Assembly's four-day monsoon session. NeVA will enhance transparency to the Gujarat Assembly's operations, according to President Murmu in her address to the House.

According to PTI, she described NeVA as a progressive reform that will increase openness in how the Gujarat Assembly operates and give members of the House access to other assemblies' best practises.

NeVA project, is  a part of "One Nation, One Application" initiative

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative, the NeVA project, was unveiled in 2018 as a component of the "One Nation, One Application" initiative. Its overarching objective is to transform legislative bodies into paperless institutions by bringing them into the digital era. This programme includes a number of important components, such as e-office features, e-voting, e-attendance, and an e-library.

The workflow system NeVA, which is installed on the NIC Cloud's MeghRaj platform, aids the Chair of the House in smoothly running the Assembly's business. Additionally, the system aids members in performing their responsibilities in the House effectively. The NeVA project will enable state assemblies to conduct all legislative business electronically.

The NeVA project, one of the 44 Mission Mode Projects (MMPs), fits in perfectly with the larger Digital India Programme.

17 state assemblies have been financed to implement NeVA

To date, financing has been given for 17 of the 21 state assemblies that have signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to implement NeVA. Nine legislatures have fully migrated to the digital houses and are currently using the NeVA software. As a result, all of their legislative actions are carried out electronically and without use of paper.

A Unicode-compliant piece of software called the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) is used to make data and legislative work online accessible to both assembly members and the general public. For easy access, the platform has both a mobile application and a dedicated website. Users can easily access important documents including question lists, business agendas, and numerous reports through NeVA.

With a commitment to prioritise cloud-first and mobile-first techniques, all focused on better serving legislative assembly members, NeVA exemplifies the idea of "One Nation, One Application." 'One Nation, One Legislative Platform' was an idea that Prime Minister Modi first put up in November 2021.
