New Delhi suspends visa services for Canadian Citizens
Ministry of external affairs of India has once again taken a bold step against Canada by suspending Visa Services for Canadian Citizens. This development came on Thursday as Canada has also decided to temporarily shift the diplomatic staff presence in India. The information about suspension of Visa Services was provided by BLS International which is a private agency running Visa centers in Canada through posting the information on their website saying the services are suspended until further notice. “Important notice from the Indian Mission: Due to operational reasons, with effect from 21st September 2023 [Thursday], Indian visa services have been suspended till further notice.” said BLS International in the post.
Indo- Canadian relation have been worsening with each passing day. New Delhi is not ready to take any charges from the Canadian government and any allegation about the killings of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. New Delhi has been giving strong answers to the Canadian counterpart and India is not ready to be a pushover in any manner.
On Wednesday 20 September, New Delhi even issues a cautionary statement for all Indian nation in Canada to be cautious and safe. Along with that the ministry has also asked Indian nationals in Canada to be in close contact with the consulate so that they can be able to take proper measures in case of emergency. The official statement of the ministry read-"In view of growing anti-India activities and politically-condoned hate crimes and criminal violence in Canada, all Indian nationals there and those contemplating travel are urged to exercise utmost caution." .
It also Added "Indian nationals and students from India in Canada must also register with the High Commission of India in Ottawa or Consulates General of India in Toronto and Vancouver through their respective websites, or the MADAD portal madad.gov.in. Registration would enable the High Commission and the Consulates General to better connect with Indian citizens in Canada in the event of any emergency or untoward incident.".
Expelled Canadian Diplomat
After these development now the ministry has taken the decision of suspension of visa services.
When Canadian foreign ministry expelled Indian diplomat from Canada, New Delhi responded by expelling a senior Canadian Diplomat. This tit-for-tat behavior of India shows that India will defend itself in this matter and accept any irrational behavior.
India has asked Canada to take actions against Khalistani forces residing in Canada, but the North American country has not shown any will to take proper actions, instead blamed India for the killing of a designated and wanted Khalistani terrorist.
Ministry of External Affairs of India has not yet issued a formal statement yet.
