Pierre Poilievre, Canada's opposition leader, responded to questions about the expulsion of an Indian diplomat by calling on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to provide more transparency regarding his allegations against India. Trudeau had accused India of involvement in the alleged killing of Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

During a media briefing, the opposition party leader Poilievre emphasized the need for the prime minister to share all available facts so that Canadians can form their own judgments. He expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of evidence provided by Trudeau and stressed the importance of additional information to assess the credibility of the allegations.

Poilievre underscored that without more evidence, the allegations might be considered baseless. He also raised concerns about Trudeau's response to foreign interference by Beijing, suggesting a contrasting approach in that case.

Trudeau had accused the Indian government of the fatal shooting of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, claiming that Canadian national security officials had reason to believe that "agents of the Indian government" were responsible for Nijjar's killing. Nijjar, a Canadian citizen who also served as the president of Surrey's Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara, was gunned down in Surrey, British Columbia, on June 18.

India promptly rejected Trudeau's allegations, describing them as "absurd" and "motivated" in an official statement by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
