On October 19, spokesperson of Ministry of External affairs India, Arindam Bhagchi said that around 1200 people have been brought back to India from Israel under operation Ajay.

It was on October 11, when The Minister of External Affairs, Dr. S. Jaishankar launched Operation Ajay for Indian Citizens who wish to come back to India considering the situation. On October 12, the Dr. Jaishankar chaired a meeting to review the preparations for the Operation.

The embassy released a travel form under which citizens who wish to come back to India filled their details. Those individuals also mentioned other dependents who were to be travelling with them. Then the embassy would allocate travel slots to individuals on the first come, first serve basis basis. Then the embassy sends emails about their travel slots and people would show up for travelling based on their slots.

The spokesperson also made it clear that amongst these 1,200 people, 18 are Nepali citizens who were brought back from Israel.

Five flights under Operation Ajay have been carried out till now by Indian Government. More such flights will be planned in the coming days as per circumstances as Indian Government is closely monitoring the situation.

On October 18, Arindam Bagchi took to twitter to twitter to give out the information that "286 passengers including 18 Nepalese nationals arrive onboard 5th flight in New Delhi. "

On October 15, the 4th flight under operation Ajay reached New Delhi carrying 274 passengers who were welcomed by Minister of State Gen VK Singh.

On October 14, the third flight carrying 197 passengers took off from Tel Aviv, Israel.

On October 14, second flight carrying 235 Indian Nationals reached Delhi from Tel Aviv.

On October 13, first batch Indian Nationals reached Delhi. The flight carries 212 Indian nationals.

The embassy carries a set method for selecting individuals who want to come back to India.

Answering to one of the questions posed by media fraternity, Bhagchi said that India has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on Israel and stressed on the importance of the global community to stand against terrorism.

India recognises Palestine

Arindam Bagchi also cleared India's position on the conflict by saying that India Stands for a free and independent state of Palestine living peacefully in borders of Israel. He said "our policy in this regard has been long-standing and consistent. India has always advocated the resumption of direct negotiations towards establishing a sovereign, independent and viable State of Palestine living with secure and recognised borders. side by side at peace with Israel".
