The club's basement was full of employees at that time. Most of the people were working there. As soon as the fire broke out, there was chaos. According to eyewitnesses, instead of running outside, people ran towards the basement, where a thick layer of smoke had already spread.

Of those who died in the accident, 20 died due to suffocation, while the bodies of three people were found badly burnt. Later, two more people died. A total of 25 people lost their lives. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant described the incident as a "very painful day" for the state and ordered an inquiry into the matter.

This popular party venue is located approximately 25 kilometers from Panaji, the state capital, and was opened last year.

What did Chief Minister Pramod Sawant say?

'This incident is extremely unfortunate for a tourist state like Goa. This fire incident occurred due to people illegally operating such activities. 23 people have lost their lives in this accident. The government will conduct a thorough investigation into the entire matter. The investigation will ascertain the exact causes of the fire, and the strictest possible action will be taken against those found guilty under the law. Most of the deceased were members of the club's kitchen staff, including three women. Three to four tourists are also among the dead.'

'An unfortunate incident occurred at a restaurant-cum-club in Arpora. The police control room received information about the fire at 12:04 AM, following which police, fire brigade, and ambulances were immediately dispatched to the spot. The fire has been brought under control, and all the bodies have been recovered. The police will investigate the reasons behind this incident, and action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.'
