Sarangpur, March 2, 2026: Twenty nine highly educated youth accepted diksha from Mahant Swami Maharaj at Teerthdham Sarangpur during a grand Diksha Mahotsav organised by the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha.

The ceremony was held in the holy memory of Mahant Swami Maharaj. The 29 youth renounced worldly life and embraced the path of service and spirituality.

Those initiated include one MBA, three postgraduates with master’s degrees, five engineers, nine graduates, four diploma engineers and one lawyer. Despite academic qualifications and career prospects, they chose to dedicate their lives to spiritual service, human welfare and social upliftment.

The festival began at 6 am with a Vedic Mahapuja. Mahant Swami Maharaj made devotees wear the Yajnopavita. Senior sadhguru saints adorned the newly initiated sadhaks with kanthi, garland, pagh and religious attire. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Guru Mantra was imparted and blessings were given.

The Diksha Mahotsav also acknowledged the contribution of parents. Fathers were honoured by senior saints of the organisation, while mothers were felicitated by women leaders.

Following initiation, the newly ordained sadhus will undergo training at the BAPS Saint Training Center in Sarangpur. They will study scriptures of Sanatan Dharma along with subjects such as Sanskrit and management.

The event drew thousands of devotees and reflected the continuing tradition of renunciation in Indian culture.
