"The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Vinod, was arrested within hours of the murder," said M Harsha Vardhan, deputy commissioner of police (Dwarka).
Vinod and the victim, Sunil, lived in the Surhera hamlet of Jaffarpur Kalan, a west Delhi area near Dwarka. A farmer was the casualty.
"A week ago, they quarreled over open defecation in Sunil's farmland," the DCP stated.
The altercations continued until Monday when the two got into another argument and this time Vinod allegedly stabbed Sunil to death with a kitchen knife.
"Another neighbor, Rajpal, attempted to intervene and save Sunil, but he, too, was stabbed," the DCP said.
Rajpal, 58, is being treated and recovering in a hospital.
The police have registered a case of murder and attempt to murder, and are questioning Vinod to understand what prompted him to suspect the victim of conducting 'black magic'.
