Pakistan Boycott Asia Cup group Clash:  The Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to boycott the match against UAE in the Asia Cup. The PCB, which had been demanding the removal of match referee Andy Pycroft, took this decision after the ICC refused. According to Pakistani media reports, the PCB refused to field its team for Wednesday's match. The match was scheduled to be played in Dubai on September 17th, starting at 8 p.m., but the Pakistani team was still in their hotel two hours before the match.

Only then did news of the Pakistani team's boycott of today's match and the tournament surface.

PCB refused to field its team for Wednesday's match

This match between Pakistan and UAE in Group A was a knockout match, with the winning team earning entry into the Super Four along with Team India, while the losing team would be eliminated. However, the Pakistani Board decided to boycott the match before that happened. Pakistan's decision comes after several rounds of meetings and emails sent to the ICC, in which none of its demands were met.

Controversy began with the India-Pakistan match.

The controversy began after the captains and players refused to shake hands during the match against India on September 14. The Pakistan Board claimed that referee Pycroft had asked Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistani captain Salman Ali Agha not to shake hands during the toss.

The PCB filed a complaint with the ICC alleging this and demanded his removal from the Asia Cup. The Pakistan Board also threatened to boycott the tournament, including the match against the UAE, if their demands were not met.

Pakistan's demand rejected for the second time

However, the ICC rejected their demand, and since then, all eyes have been on whether Pakistan will stick to their threat. Following this, an emergency PCB meeting was held in Dubai on the night of Tuesday, September 16th, in which the Emirates Cricket Board also attempted to mediate. Following this, reports emerged that a middle ground had been reached, with Pycroft removed from the Pakistan match and Richie Richardson appointed as the referee.
