Air India flight passengers stuck inside plane for 8 hours due to severe weather conditions
Air India flight passengers endure extended delays totaling over ten hours due to severe weather conditions at Delhi airport.
Two Air India flights, AI 185 bound for Vancouver and AI-120 from Frankfurt to Delhi, faced significant delays attributed to adverse weather conditions at Delhi airport. AI 185, scheduled from Delhi to Vancouver, experienced an 8-hour delay, forcing its cancellation as the weather rendered takeoff unsafe.

An Air India official explained, "The flight was ready for takeoff at 5:15 in the morning and all the passengers were boarded but due to low visibility, the flight was cancelled after eight hours of waiting."
Concerns were raised by passengers who were not permitted to deboard and wait inside the terminal. The airline clarified, stating the decision was influenced by the time-consuming rechecking and security clearance process post-deboarding.
Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) restrictions affecting the crew members were also cited as contributing to the cancellation. Passengers affected by the cancellation were provided accommodation options, with the rescheduled departure set for approximately 11:15 pm.
In a separate incident, the AI-120 flight from Frankfurt to Delhi faced challenges finding parking space upon landing at 7:48 am. The captain struggled for about two and a half hours to secure parking due to a full parking situation at the airport caused by adverse weather conditions.
The capital's severe cold coupled with dense fog has resulted in flight disruptions, affecting both domestic and international schedules, causing delays and cancellations in departures and arrivals.
