Akash Anand lost his chair: Who is Mayawati’s nephew, sacked for the second time?
The story of Akash Anand in BSP is a political story of father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter and 'Bua Maa' getting divided into two camps. Mayawati has held Akash Anand's father-in-law responsible for this entire incident. The BSP supremo has also pointed towards Akash's wife, about whom Mayawati fears that she will hardly be able to free herself from her father's influence.
She has said that Akash's political career has been ruined due to this incident.
BSP supremo Mayawati rarely appears so vocal and aggressive about the politics of her family members. While expelling her nephew Akash Anand from BSP, Mayawati said in the BSP press release, "As far as Akash Anand is concerned in this case, you know that he is married to Ashok Siddharth's daughter and now after expelling Ashok Siddharth from the party, how much influence does his father have on that girl and how much influence does his daughter have on Akash? So, we will have to see all this as well."
Akash Anand's father-in-law responsible for this entire incident- Mayawati
The BSP president expressed disappointment in this matter and said that till now his influence does not seem to be positive at all. In such a situation, in the interest of the party movement, Akash Anand has been separated from all the responsibilities of the party.
By holding Akash Anand's father-in-law Ashok Siddharth responsible for this incident, Mayawati said that "In such a situation, in the interest of the party and the movement, For which not the party but his father-in-law Mr. Ashok Siddharth is completely responsible who has not only harmed the party but has also ruined the political career of Mr. Akash Anand."

30-year-old Akash Anand respects Mayawati by calling her 'Bua Maa'. There was a time when Mayawati saw great potential in Akash. Akash saw many ups and downs in his short tenure with BSP.
This is the second time in two years that Mayawati has removed Akash Anand from the post of BSP's national coordinator and successor.
Aakash, son of Mayawati's younger brother Anand Kumar, received his schooling in Delhi and did his MBA from London.
Bua taught him the basics of politics
He returned to India in 2017 and went to Saharanpur with Mayawati in May of the same year. This was the place where the Thakur-Dalit conflict took place. Aunty started teaching Akash, a new boy from the London environment, the basics of politics and took him to Saharanpur, where Akash had to carve his career in social engineering.
This was the first training of the BSP
In September 2017, Mayawati formally introduced Akash Anand to the party workers. This was the time when BJP had made a spectacular comeback in UP and BSP had come down to 19 seats.
By 2019, Akash was playing an active role in the party, and he is also credited with bringing Mayawati on Twitter.
During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, when Mayawati formed an alliance with the Samajwadi Party. During that time his activism increased.

During this time, when the Election Commission banned Mayawati from campaigning for 48 hours during the elections, Akash addressed his first independent rally.
Mayawati fielded her London return nephew against Chandrashekhar
In a meeting in Lucknow in December 2023, Mayawati declared Akash as her political successor. Actually, the Lok Sabha elections were coming, and another Dalit leader was emerging rapidly on the political scene of Uttar Pradesh. The name was - Chandrashekhar Azad. It was necessary for Mayawati to counter this face. That's why she chose her London return nephew Akash Anand.
This move is believed to be an attempt to give a new direction to the BSP and to remove the concern of leadership after Mayawati. His first rally in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was held in Nagina, where he attacked Chandrashekhar Azad, which further strengthened his aggressive image.
Fall was as fast and unexpected as the rise
To test Akash's leadership, Mayawati sent him to Delhi and Haryana to look after the party. But Akash could not create an atmosphere in both the assemblies. According to the Indian Express, the party did not win any of the 35 seats it contested in Haryana and its vote share fell by 2 percentage points to 1.86%, none of its 68 candidates won in the capital, while the party's vote share fell to 0.57%.
Story of that rally, when Mayawati got angry at Akash
But something had happened even before this. And that was the story of a rally, where Akash Anand became too aggressive on the BJP.
On 7 May 2024, after the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections, Mayawati suddenly removed Akash from the post of national coordinator and successor. Mayawati cited his lack of "full maturity" for this.
Mayawati's decision came after a rally by Akash Anand in Sitapur on April 19, where he made sharp attacks on the BJP, which went viral. Some analysts believe that his aggressive style was benefiting the SP, which Mayawati did not like. In this rally, Akash had termed the BJP as a 'party of terrorists'.
First removed, then returned
It was believed in party circles that Mayawati removed Akash for this reason During the election campaign, he was removed from the post of national coordinator. Later, in an interview to the news channel Akash said that he often became aggressive in his speeches and said that he could not control his anger over the "injustice" done to the people, especially the Dalits.
But after the 2024 elections, Akash Anand returned to BSP politics once again. Mayawati gave him a kind of promotion and gave him national responsibilities related to organisational and campaign.
Akash's father-in-law made a 'villain', wife's influence also mentioned
Akash Anand was climbing the ladder of success in BSP. Meanwhile, on 27 March 2023, he got married to Pragya Siddharth, daughter of Bundelkhand politician Ashok Siddharth.
Ashok Siddharth was earlier a leader of Mayawati's close circle. He used to come in the first list of Mayawati's loyalists. Mayawati first made him a member of the Legislative Council (MLC) and then a Rajya Sabha MP in 2016, where he remained till 2022.
Earlier Ashok Siddharth was close leader of Mayawati
But there was a change in politics. On 12 February 2024, Mayawati wrote in a post on X and Ashok Siddharth was removed from BSP politics. Mayawati wrote in this post, "Dr. Ashok Siddharth, in-charge of southern states, was involved in factionalism despite warnings. He has been expelled from BSP for being involved in anti-party activities.
" Mayawati has said that Ashok Siddharth, who is Akash's father-in-law, has done a very disgusting act of weakening the party by dividing it into two factions in the entire country including UP. Which is absolutely not tolerable. It is said that Ashok Siddharth's daughter Pragya and Akash Anand got married due to Mayawati's trust.
Mayawati wrote in a post on X and Ashok Siddharth was removed from BSP politic.
Ashok Siddharth played an important role in making Akash Anand the national coordinator again. On Sunday, Mayawati called Ashok Siddharth the 'villain' of the entire incident and said that his father-in-law Ashok Siddharth is completely responsible for this.
Mayawati also mentioned Ashok Siddharth's daughter and Akash Anand's wife Pragya Siddharth and said that after Ashok Siddharth is expelled from the party, how much influence does that girl have on her father and how much influence does her daughter have on Akash?
It will be interesting to see. However, she said that she is not seeing anything positive in this matter so far.
Trust in brother Anand remains
In the press release issued by BSP on Sunday, Mayawati has expressed full trust in her brother Anand Kumar. While giving the responsibility of national coordinator to Anand Kumar, she has clearly said that Anand Kumar has not disappointed her till now and has not caused any harm to the movement of the party. Mayawati has given Anand Kumar the responsibility of all the party's work in Delhi.
Apart from this, she has said that as long as she is alive, she will not declare any successor.
