Quality Test: A quality test has been conducted by India's drug regulator, CDSCO in August. And the test socking details are coming out; several medicines for diabetes, high blood pressure, vitamins, calcium D3 supplements, bacterial infections in children, acid reflux and stomach infections have failed the quality standards.

We use to take medicine for every small health problem in daily life in fact paracetamol and Pan D are become part of our life. Meanwhile a Kolkata-based government laboratory found Alkem Health Science's antibiotics, Clavam 625 and Pan D, not up to the standards. Hyderabad-based Hetero's Cepodem XP 50 dry suspension, prescribed for severe bacterial infections in children, also failed the quality standards.

Medicines including paracetamol failed in test
Test was conducted by CDSCO in August, in this medicines including sugar, vitamins, bacterial infection in children did not meet the quality standards. Many of these medicines are used by people every day.
Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO)
In the meanwhile CDSCO released a detailed report in August 2024. In this report, many important medicines commonly used across the country were found to have failed the quality test. These medicines included medicines for diabetes, high blood pressure, acid reflux, vitamin and calcium supplements, as well as antibiotics for children to treat bacterial infections.
These medicines failed in CDSCO test
Pan D: Given to treat acid reflux also failed the quality test, manufactured by Alkem Health Science.
Paracetamol tablets: Used for mild fever and painkillers, it is usually a part of first aid and is commonly found in every household.
Glimepiride: This is an anti-diabetic drug, which is used in the treatment of sugar, manufactured by Alkem Health.
Telma H: This medicine of Glenmark is given to treat high BP. This medicine has also been below standard in the test.
Shelcal C and D3 Calcium Supplements: Shelcal manufactured by Pure & Cure Healthcare failed the quality test.
Clavam 625: It is an antibiotic drug.
Cepodem XP 50 Dry Suspension: Prescribed to treat severe bacterial infections in children, was manufactured by Hyderabad-based Hetero Company. It failed the quality test.
Pulmosil: Made by Sun Pharma, prescribed to treat erectile dysfunction.
Pantocid (for acid reflux): This drug of Sun Pharma, used to treat acidity and reflux, also failed.
Ursocol 300: This drug of Sun Pharma also failed the quality standards.
Defcort 6: This drug of Macleods Pharma, prescribed to treat arthritis, failed the quality test.
