Bihar Election First Phase Voting: Voting is taking place today in 121 seats across 18 districts in the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections. Some key seats in this political battle include Tejashwi Yadav's Raghopur seat, Tej Pratap Yadav's Mahua seat, and Tarapur, where Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary is contesting.

Many prominent candidates, including Tejashwi and Tej Pratap Yadav, are in the fray. Maithili Thakur, Samrat Chaudhary, and Osama Shahab are also in focus. More than 30 million voters are casting their votes.

Other seats in focus are Alinagar, where singer Maithili Thakur is contesting on a BJP ticket; Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha's Lakhisarai; JDU candidate is the Mokama seat of strongman Anant Singh, who has been arrested in connection with the murder of his opponent Dular Chand Yadav, and RJD candidate is the Raghunathpur seat of Osama Shahab, son of the late Mohammad Shahabuddin. Voting for 122 other seats will be held in the second phase on November 11th.

The Election Commission has made elaborate security arrangements for the voting and has installed surveillance cameras at polling booths. The Commission will monitor all booths through live webcasting. According to the Election Commission, over 30 million voters will exercise their franchise in the first phase, including 19.8 million men, 17.6 million women, and third genders.

"The roti must keep turning from the pan..." Lalu Prasad Yadav said during the first phase of elections.

Amid the first phase of voting in Bihar, former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav said in a social media post, "The roti must keep turning from the pan, otherwise it will burn. 20 years are enough! Now, a young government and a Tejashwi government are essential for a new Bihar."

13.13% voting till 9 am, Saharsa leading, Lakhisarai slowest

Voting for the first phase of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections is underway on November 6, 2025. Voting has begun encouragingly in various districts across the state. As of 9:00 am, approximately 13.13% voter turnout has been recorded.

Summary

Voting trends have varied across districts. Saharsa district led with 15.27% voting. At the same time, the voting pace was the lowest in Lakhisarai district, where only 7.00% voting was recorded.
