Amit Shah pays homage to Arun Jaitley on birth anniversary, highlights legacy
Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed heartfelt tributes to the late former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on his birth anniversary.
Using the social media platform, X, Shah conveyed, "Remembering Arun Jaitley Ji on his birth anniversary. An astute lawmaker, Jaitley Ji also lent his vast expertise in the field of law to the cause of guarding the rights of the citizens. Through his contributions to our social and political life, Arun Jaitley Ji will always remain in our collective memory," Shah posted on X.
A stalwart of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Arun Jaitley passed away at the age of 66 in August 2019. Besides his political endeavors, he served as the president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) from 1999 to 2013.
Having been a four-time member of the Rajya Sabha, Jaitley assumed the role of a Cabinet minister in the government of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2000. His political journey also included being the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha from June 2009 to 2014.
Notably, Jaitley held key ministerial portfolios in the first term of the Modi government, serving as the Finance and Corporate Affairs minister. Additionally, he handled the portfolios of Defence and Information and Broadcasting during his tenure. The late leader's multifaceted contributions continue to be remembered as part of his enduring legacy.
