The cyclone made
landfall in Jakhau, on the Saurashtra-Kutch coast, at approximately 6:30 p.m.
on Thursday, accompanied by heavy rains and winds of at least 140
kilometers per hour. By the early hours of
Friday, the landfall had weakened, and Kutch, Jamnagar, Rajkot, and other
districts were experiencing heavy rainfall and strong winds.

The cyclone had a
significant impact on the electricity supply in the state, as more than 4,600
villages were left without power and 3,580 villages had their power
supply restored.
More than 1000 villages
are still without electricity, posing the greatest challenge to the state
administrator at present.

Biparjoy has now moved
towards southern Rajasthan, and the NDRF has already mobilised a team in Jalore
due to the high likelihood of a flood-like situation resulting from the heavy
rainfall.

According to the
government, there were no fatalities caused by cyclone Biparjoy, as Chief
Minister Patel stated in a press release that the state’s advance planning and
mass evacuation operation, which involved the evacuation of one lakh people,
contributed to attaining zero casualties in the state.

  • According to the
government, 1,09,000 people were relocated to temporary shelters, including
10,918 children, 5,070 senior citizens, and 1,152 pregnant women.

  • Amit Shah visited the village of Kathda in the district of Mandvi. Also, met and interacted with patients at Mandvi Civil Hospital.

  • Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji, three initiatives with a combined budget of over 8,000 crores have been initiated to reduce the impact of fire incidents, urban floods, and landslides.

  • The programs will be devoted to modernising the fire brigades in 17 states and union territories, addressing urban flooding in the most populous metropolitan areas such as Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Pune, and reducing the risk of landslides.
