Pollution in Delhi

The Government of Delhi implemented Odd-Even. Since Delhites have been suffering from rising pollution for the past weeks, authorities have been continuously using different methods to control pollution in the union territory.

ODD-Even implemented

The Government of Delhi has now implemented the rule of Odd-Even which is based on the number plates of vehicles. Gopal Rai on Monday said that Odd-Even rules will be reintroduced for one week from November 13 to November 20.

Under this system, people are allowed to use vehicles based on the last digit of their number plate. If the last digit of the number plate is an odd number and the date of a particular day is odd as well, only then can a person use their vehicle.

The environment minister of the state took this decision in the wake of mounting pollution levels.

"In view of air pollution, the Odd-Even vehicle system will be applicable for one week from 13th to 20th November," said Rai.

The Government of Delhi has implemented an Odd-Even system from time to time to control pollution.

Apart from this, the government is also using measures such as spraying water on roads and in front of hospitals to curb pollution.

The government has also asked schools to remain closed for all classes except 10th and 12th.

In view of the serious situation of pollution in Delhi, Central Air Quality Management (CAQM) has implemented the fourth phase of GRAP (Graded Response Action Plan) in the National Capital Region . The CAQM Sub-Committee decided to implement with immediate effect an 8-point action plan as per Phase-IV of GRAP in the entire NCR in addition to all actions under Phases I, II and III to prevent further deterioration in air quality.
