Government Issued Complaint Numbers
On Tuesday, the government announced that if consumers are not receiving the benefits of the GST rate reduction, they can register their complaints on the toll-free number 1915 or through WhatsApp number 8800001915. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) stated in its frequently asked questions (FAQs) that aggrieved customers can call the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) toll-free number 1915 or WhatsApp 8800001915. The CBIC said that complaints/questions can also be lodged on the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (INGRAM) portal.

Government Announced GST Reforms
GST rate cuts came into effect on September 22nd, the first day of Navratri. On September 3rd, after the GST Council meeting, Finance Minister and GST Council Chairperson Nirmala Sitharaman announced GST reforms, eliminating the 12% and 28% slabs and maintaining only two. The Finance Minister also announced that there would now be only two slabs: 5% and 18%, along with a special 40% slab, which would include luxury products and sin products. The government also removed all cess and other extra charges.
