Armed Attack in Manipur's Bishnupur District
In Manipur's Bishnupur district, an armed attack occurred on Tuesday morning, resulting in an arrest and an individual sustaining bullet injuries. Security forces conducted searches in the Khoirentak Hill area following the attack.
Armed Attack Details
Armed individuals fired at villagers in Manipur's Bishnupur district. Salam Jotin Singh, a 26 yr old man was injurd in the attack. the inncident took place at 6"30 am while singh was working in a feild near his house. the attackers fired from the jungle near Khoirentak Hill
Salam Jotin Singh who got injured in the incident is a resident of Naransena village. his condition is reported as stable. Police has started investigating and searching for the attacker.
In response to the attack, security forces conducted searches in the Khoirentak Hill area. One armed individual was apprehended as a result of the search operations. The person arrested was found with two guns and a significant amount of ammunition.
Manipur violence
The clashes in Manipur began on May 3 in Churachandpur town. Tribal groups initiated protests against proposed changes to the state's reservation matrix, specifically regarding scheduled tribe (ST) status for the Meitei community. The violence escalated, causing displacement of tens of thousands of people across state borders due to burning homes and neighborhoods. The conflict has led to the loss of 155 lives and the displacement of around 50,000 people from their homes.
The state is suffering from Violence from the past months. Recently on Sunday, 5 abandoned houses were burned in the New Lambulane locality of Imphal. Earlier this morning, Unidentified individuals reportedly snatched three weapons from security personnel guarding the resident of K. Rao and former health and family welfare director.
