Arunachal Pradesh: China again claims Arunachal as Inherent part

The Chinese military has once again declared its ownership of Arunachal Pradesh, stating that the region belongs to China. This comes shortly after India dismissed objections raised by Beijing regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to the state.

China's Assertion

Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang, a spokesperson for the Chinese Defence Ministry, emphasized that the southern part of Xizang, which China refers to as Tibet, is an integral part of China's territory. Zhang rejected India's establishment of Arunachal Pradesh, calling it illegal.

Military Build-Up

China's statement follows India's reinforcement of its military infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh, notably through the construction of the Sela Tunnel. This tunnel, inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi, aims to enhance connectivity to the strategically important Tawang region and improve troop movement along the border.

India's Response

India has consistently rejected China's claims over Arunachal Pradesh, asserting that it is an inseparable part of the country. Indian officials have rebuffed China's objections to visits by Indian leaders to the state, reiterating that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India's territory.

Ongoing Tensions

Despite efforts to maintain stability along the border, tensions persist between India and China over territorial disputes. China has urged India to refrain from actions that could escalate the situation, emphasizing its commitment to defending its sovereignty.

China's objection to Modi's visit prompted a diplomatic protest from India, with Indian officials reaffirming their stance on Arunachal Pradesh's status. India maintains that visits by its leaders to the region are routine and do not alter the reality of Arunachal Pradesh's integral status within India.
