Asaram come out of jail after 11 years in Prison for treatment got parole by order of Rajasthan High Court
Asaram, who is serving life sentence in Jodhpur Central Jail in a sexual assault case, has got a big relief from the Rajasthan High Court. The court has approved 7 days parole for treatment. He has been in jail since September 1, 2013 and never got any parole in 11 years. This is the first time that Ashram’s parole has been approved. Asaram health deteriorated pain in chest
Ashram’s health suddenly deteriorated a few days ago. He complained of chest pain, after which the jail administration admitted him to Jodhpur AIIMS. Here, after a medical checkup, he was admitted for treatment. He has been admitted to Jodhpur AIIMS since August 10. As soon as the news of Asaram's ill health and his admission to Jodhpur AIIMS became public, a crowd of his supporters gathered outside the hospital. Asaram was convicted of raping a minor by a special POCSO court in Jodhpur in 2018 and sentenced to life imprisonment Asaram has been in jail since September 2, 2013. In her complaint, the girl had alleged that on the night of August 15, 2013, Asaram called her to his ashram in Manai near Jodhpur and raped her. After a trial that lasted more than five years, the POCSO court convicted Asaram and sentenced him to life imprisonment. Last year, a Gujarat court convicted Asaram for raping a female follower on multiple occasions at his Surat ashram in 2013
Asaram had demanded suspension of sentence
Even before this, 85-year-old Godman had sought parole several times citing illness. On June 20, he had sought 20 days parole from the court, but then the parole committee refused to grant him relief. Asaram had also filed a petition in the Rajasthan High Court seeking suspension of his sentence on medical grounds, which was rejected by the court. Asaram challenged the High Court's decision in the Supreme Court. In March this year, the apex court refused to interfere in the decision of the Rajasthan High Court. However, the Supreme Court had said that he could approach the Rajasthan High Court to seek permission for treatment.
Asaram's son Narayan Sai is also in jail
Howe ever Asaram's son Narayan Sai is also serving life imprisonment in a rape case. A woman from Surat had lodged an FIR at Jahangirpura police station accusing him of exploitation and repeated rape between 2002 and 2005. He evaded arrest for two months and was arrested on 4 December 2013 in a joint operation by Delhi, Gujarat, Punjab and Haryana police on the Delhi-Haryana border. On 26 April 2019, a Surat court convicted Narayan Sai of rape, unnatural sex, assault, criminal intimidation and conspiracy and sentenced him to life imprisonment
