Bangladesh: ISKCON priest Chinmay Krishna Das has got bail after 6 months. He was lodged in a Bangladesh jail. He was arrested in November last year on charges of treason. After several unsuccessful attempts to get bail in the Chittagong court, Chinmay Das's lawyer has finally got him bail in today's hearing in the Bangladesh High Court in Dhaka.

Let us tell you that after the end of Sheikh Hasina's rule, Chinmay Das emerged as a prominent voice for minorities, especially Hindus, in Bangladesh.

After this, he was arrested by the Detective Branch of Dhaka Police on charges of treason on 25 November.

ISKCON priest Chinmoy Das granted bail

After his arrest, he had filed a bail petition in the Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Chittagong on 26 November, which was rejected by the court. He was in jail since then. Chinmay Das's lawyer had filed petitions for his bail in the court several times, but they were being rejected. On January 2, one of his bail petitions was rejected.

He was in jail for 6 months

A Chittagong court had granted interim bail to 63 Hindu lawyers in a case related to the death of a Muslim lawyer in the court premises during the clashes that followed the arrest of Chinmay Das last year. Cases were registered against them in connection with this crime.

After the Sheikh Hasina government fell in Bangladesh, violent incidents against the Hindu community started here. During this time, he raised his voice against the atrocities being committed against the community and criticized the violent incidents. Chinmay Das's was accused of insulting the flag of Bangladesh. A case was registered against him under sections of treason.
