Bhutan's King meets PM Modi, testament of Unique friendship
The King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk met with the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 7, Tuesday. The King is in India for an eight-day long visit to improve and strengthen the friendly relations.
The King was received by the Prime Minister in New Delhi after which both sat down for the meeting.

Wangchuk arrived in Assam on November 3 and stayed there for 2 days. During these days, he held meetings with the Chief Minister of Assam, Hemanta Biswa, and also attended a cultural program.
His Majesty, the King of Bhutan’s visit to our State is truly historic.
The State of Assam and the Kingdom of Bhutan share a common border and this is the first time in recorded history that we have had the privilege to host the Druk Gyalpo.

The emperor is in India along with other officials of the Royal Government of Bhutan. He is also scheduled to visit Maharashtra.
The Bhutanese King earlier on Sunday was welcomed in New Delhi by the External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. Jaishankar remarked that this visit by the king is a testament to the close and unique India-Bhutan partnership.
The Minister also held a meeting with the king and took to X to state "Privilege to call on His Majesty, the King of Bhutan shortly after his arrival in New Delhi. Pleased to hear about the experience of his first visit to Assam. India supports the vision of sustainable transformation of Bhutan under His Majesty’s guidance."
The Ministry of External Affairs in an official statement said " India and Bhutan enjoy unique ties of friendship and cooperation, which are characterized by understanding and mutual trust. The visit would provide an opportunity for both sides to review the entire gamut of bilateral cooperation and to further advance the exemplary bilateral partnership, across diverse sectors."
