US President Joe Biden held substantial discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the G20 Summit in New Delhi, expressing gratitude for Modi's leadership and hosting of the event. Their talks focused on strengthening the Indo-US partnership, deepening defense ties, and advancing joint initiatives, such as India's procurement of 31 drones and the collaborative development of jet engines.

During a press conference in Vietnam, President Biden emphasized the importance of respecting human rights and the pivotal roles played by civil society and a free press in building strong and prosperous nations. This was in line with the shared values of freedom, democracy, human rights, inclusion, pluralism, and equal opportunities for all citizens, as highlighted in the joint statement issued after their bilateral talks.

President Biden also mentioned the significant business conducted during the G20 Summit in India, which showcased the United States' commitment to addressing global challenges, including inclusive growth, sustainable development, the climate crisis, food security, education, global health, and health security. He emphasized the US's role as a partner with a positive vision for the shared global future.

Regarding the corridor connecting India to Europe via the Middle East and Israel, President Biden noted the untold opportunities it would create for transformative economic investment.

The President acknowledged the discussions about the "illegal war in Ukraine" at the summit and the consensus on the need for a just and lasting peace.

In response to questions, President Biden clarified that his goal is to provide stability globally by strengthening America's ties with Vietnam and other Asian nations, emphasizing that he is not seeking to initiate a "cold war" with China. He underscored the importance of having a stable foundation rather than containing China.

President Biden also mentioned his meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on the sidelines of the G20 Summit, where they discussed stability, highlighting that the conversation was not confrontational but aimed at fostering dialogue and understanding. Biden's visit coincided with Vietnam elevating the United States to a comprehensive strategic partner.
