BJP Vijender Gupta elected speaker of newly constituted Delhi Assembly

Vijender Gupta unanimously became the Speaker of the Delhi Assembly, no voice was raised in protest.

Delhi Assembly Speaker: The first assembly session is going on after the formation of CM Rekha Gupta's government in Delhi. In this session, elections were held for the Speaker of the new Assembly. BJP's Vijender Gupta was elected the Speaker of the Assembly. His name was proposed by CM Rekha Gupta.

Vijender Gupta was elected Speaker in the first session of Delhi Assembly.

BJP MLA Vijender Gupta has become the Speaker of the Delhi Assembly with unanimity. Pro tem Speaker Arvinder Singh Lovely congratulated him on being elected as the Speaker of the Assembly

Leader of Opposition Atishi congratulated Speaker Vijender Gupta by shaking hands.

However, there was a ruckus after this. Atishi raised the issue of removing the photos of Bhimrao Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh from the CM's office in the House.

What did the Speaker say?

On this, the Speaker said that it was a courtesy address. A political platform should not have been created. I strongly condemn Atishi's behavior. The irresponsible attitude of the opposition will not be tolerated. It will not be tolerated if rules and laws are violated.

Delhi Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Singh had informed that the swearing-in ceremony of all the MLAs in the Assembly has been completed. The Speaker's election is to be held at 2 pm, after which the names of both were announced shortly.

Who is Vijender Gupta?

61-year-old Vijender Gupta is a BJP MLA from Rohina. He started his political career from student politics and was also the Vice President of Delhi University. Vijender Gupta first became a Municipal Councilor and then the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly.
