Charges Filed Against 90 Individuals for Obstructing UP Minister's Convoy with Stray Cattle
Ninety unnamed individuals have been subject to an FIR lodged on Sunday for obstructing the convoy of Uttar Pradesh Minister Dharampal Singh in the Bareilly district while he was en route to an event, according to local authorities.
Incensed locals on August 17 used stray cattle to blockade the animal husbandry minister's convoy on the road in the Sirauli area of his assembly constituency, Aonla.
Additional SP (rural) Rajkumar Agarwal stated that, in response to a complaint from veterinary officer Sanjay Kumar Sharma, an FIR has been registered against the unidentified individuals under IPC Section 341 (wrongfully restraining any person) in connection with the incident.
Minister Singh, joined by Additional Chief Secretary Rajneesh Dubey, was on his way to partake in the 'Bhoomi Pujan' ceremony for an animal polyclinic project. The initiative, valued at Rs 9.14 crore, is set to be established in Gurgaon, Aonla tehsil, and will provide round-the-clock care for animals. The minister's convoy experienced a delay of approximately 40 minutes due to the situation.
Singh assured the villagers that efforts would be made to swiftly establish a cow shelter, identifying appropriate land within the area's gram sabha.
The predicament of stray cattle was prominently raised by opposition parties during the state Assembly elections the previous year.
