But Trump clearly singled out Afghanistan, Bolivia, Burma, Colombia, and Venezuela as failures. He particularly criticized Afghanistan, where opium and other narcotics are being trafficked despite open bans.
Direct Attack on China
In this report, Trump described China as the world's largest source of chemicals needed for fentanyl and other synthetic drugs. He stated that China's role in the spread of methamphetamine and new dangerous drugs (such as nitazine) is significant. Trump also appealed to the Chinese government to take strict action, stop chemical trafficking, and prosecute those responsible.
Why is this list of countries included?
The US State Department states that a country's inclusion on the list does not mean it is not cooperating. Sometimes, geographical locations, trade routes, and economic conditions are such that even governments cannot completely stop drug trafficking.
India's Recent Success
India has also taken strong action. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) recently busted an international drug syndicate. This gang was smuggling drugs to the US, Australia, and Europe using digital platforms, drop shipping, and cryptocurrency.
Summary
A routine vehicle check near Delhi's Bengali Market uncovered the entire network. A local checkpoint quickly uncovered the international drug racket. This action by India was praised even by the US. The US Embassy in New Delhi thanked the NCB, stating that Indian agencies have greatly helped protect American citizens from illegal drugs.
