Chinese President Xi likely to Skip G20 summit
According to recent reports, Chinese president Xi Jingping is likely to skip G20 summit this year. G20 summit is going to take place from on 9 and 10 September. New Delhi is going to be the host of this event this year.
New Delhi has made all necessary arrangements to welcome and hosts guest coming to the city from all over the world.
The reason behind Chinese Presidents skipping the event is not clear, however speculations were being made since the some weeks. China also released a new Map of the itself including Indian territory as Chinese recently.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang is set to visit India representing China. This will be his first visit since he held the position. The presence of Xi Jingping has not been officially made clear by the Chinese government.
Apart from this, Russian President Vladimir Putin will also be skipping the event. He informed about this to PM Modi by stating that he is currently focused on the Military Operations in Ukraine. Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will be representing Russia in the summit.
It is not the first time heads of states have skipped G20. Heads of sates usually skip the summit due to engaged in something else.
Attending G20 meeting by a head of the state is not based or related to the country which is hosting it,
G20 is a forum where influential counties come together to discuss global issues.
The G20 members include- Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the UK, the US and the European Union (EU).
