A 6.5 km long tunnel has been built at an altitude of 8,650 feet above sea level in Ganderbal district on the Srinagar-Kargil-Leh highway. Meanwhile , LG of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Dr. Jitendra Singh were also present.
CM Abdullah praised PM Modi
Addressing the public meeting after the inauguration of the tunnel, CM Omar Abdullah praised the Prime Minister for conducting elections in a safe and fair environment in Jammu and Kashmir. Omar Abdullah said that you conducted free and fair elections.
He said that people ask when will Jammu Kashmir get the status of a state, so I answer that I am sure that the Prime Minister will fulfill the promise of giving statehood here on the occasion of Yoga Day. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also remembered the people who sacrificed their lives in the Gagangir attack in his address.
Discussion is not for terrorism but for tourism: LG Sinha
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said in his address that the Prime Minister has worked to take Kashmir out of the swamp of despair, to take it on the path of development, to make it the real paradise that is talked about in books. Today Jammu Kashmir is being discussed not for terrorism but for tourism. You have worked to take Jammu Kashmir to the peak of glory. He said that last year he visited Jammu Kashmir thrice and inaugurated development projects worth 41 thousand crores.

Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said in his address that the Prime Minister has put before us the mission to make our country happy and a developed India. If we want to make India developed, then we have to develop our infrastructure. Therefore, the Prime Minister has given us the responsibility of developing infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir by resolving to make Jammu and Kashmir happy and prosperous along with a developed India.
PM Modi remembered workers who lost their lives
The Prime Minister said that for the progress of Jammu and Kashmir, the workers who put their lives in danger worked in difficult circumstances. PM also remembered the labor who lost their lives. But we did not waver from our resolve, My labor colleagues have completed this work by overcoming all the challenges. Today I remember the seven workers who lost their lives.
