Congress furious over BJP MPs' statement on SC - said, ‘party is doing damage control'
The Congress on Sunday rejected BJP President JP Nadda's clarification as "damage control", rejecting the attempt to distance itself from the controversial remarks of BJP MPs Nishikant Dubey and Dinesh Sharma on the Supreme Court.
The main opposition party said that the comments of Dubey and Sharma were made with the aim of "deliberately" weakening the judiciary.

In a statement, Congress General Secretary (Communication) Jairam Ramesh questioned the lack of action against Dubey and Sharma, members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, and described them as "repeat offenders" who are used by the top leadership of the BJP to attack communities, institutions and individuals.
Jairam Ramesh questioned the lack of action against Dubey and Sharma
Ramesh said, “The outgoing BJP president’s distancing himself from the disgusting comments made on the CJI makes little sense. These MPs are repeat offenders of hate speech and are often used by the G2 to attack communities, institutions and individuals. The outgoing BJP president’s clarification is nothing but damage control. It will not fool anyone. It is the entire political science manifesting as entire political hypocrisy.”
On Saturday, Dubey had targeted Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna, calling him “responsible for all the civil wars in the country”. He had also put up a cryptic post on X, saying that if the Supreme Court is to make laws, Parliament should be shut down.
His attack on the Supreme Court comes at a time when the court has set a deadline for the President to take a decision on bills sent by governors and questioned some provisions of the amended Waqf Act.

Sharma, a former deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, also criticised the court and said no one can give directions to Parliament or the President.
Amid the controversy sparked by these remarks, Nadda had to clarify that the BJP does not support such views. He also said that he has instructed MPs not to make such statements.

But the BJP president is completely silent on the equally unacceptable remarks that are being made repeatedly about the judiciary by his very eminent appointee holding a high constitutional post. What does he say about these remarks? Does the BJP support them?" Ramesh said.

This comment was clearly a reference to Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar's comment in which he had talked about the judiciary acting as a "super parliament". Ramesh further said, "If the Prime Minister's silence on these continuous attacks on the Indian Constitution does not give them tacit support, then why no action has been taken against these two MPs?
Has Nadda ji issued a show cause notice to these two MPs?"
On Saturday, Congress leader Ramesh had alleged that statements were being made to "deliberately" target the apex court. He said, "They (BJP) are engaged in weakening the Supreme Court. There is an attempt to weaken the powers given to the Supreme Court by the Constitution.
People sitting on constitutional posts, ministers and even BJP MPs are speaking against the Supreme Court, while the court is only saying that while making laws, do not go against the basic structure of the Constitution.
Summary
The party also asked why Nadda is silent on the comment of a person who is from the party and holds a big constitutional post. That person also made a wrong comment on the judiciary. Here the reference was towards Vice President Dhankhar.
