COP28 Summit: PM Modi declares India’s mission to reduce emissions by 45% by 2030
In his speech at COP28 in Dubai, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India aims to reduce emissions by 45% by 2030.
On Friday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested that India host the COP33 conference in 2028.
India is committed to putting the UN Framework on Climate Change into practice, and thereby proposed to host COP33 Summit in India in 2028. PM Modi declared this in his speech at the World Climate Action Summit, Dubai.
India wants to reduce its emissions by 45% by the year 2030. We have made the decision to raise the non-fossil fuel percentage to 50%. In addition, we'll keep working toward reaching net zero by 2070," he declared.
Speaking at the UN climate conference in Dubai's high-level segment for heads of state and government, he said that India has set a great example for the rest of the world for striking a balance between development and environmental conservation.
