‘Cough syrup not contaminated’: The case of the deaths of six children due to kidney failure in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, has gained momentum. It is believed that the children's kidneys failed after consuming cough syrup. Meanwhile, a statement from the state's Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister, Rajendra Shukla, has come out. He stated that the real cause of the deaths will only be revealed after the investigation report. Currently, the entire health department is monitoring the situation and the situation is under control.

Congress questioned how a pharmaceutical company could be given a clean chit before the investigation report is available. The party also said that this case smells of corruption.

Deaths of six children due to kidney failure in Chhindwara

Health Minister Shukla stated that the reports of the children who died have been sent to ICMR and Nagpur. He added that the real cause of death will only be clear after the reports are received. He also appealed to the public not to pay attention to any rumors.

Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla clarified that cough syrup is not responsible for the children's deaths. He said that the allegations regarding cough syrup are completely baseless. It is certain that the deaths were not caused by cough syrup. He added that it is impossible to reach any conclusion until the investigation report is released.

How can a clean chit be given before the investigation report?

Meanwhile, the Congress party has raised questions about the Deputy Chief Minister's clean chit to the syrup company before the investigation report. Congress MLA Arif Masood questioned how the pharmaceutical company was given a clean chit when the investigation report had not yet been released. He alleged that this matter reeks of corruption.

Congress leader Masood also said that the collector who banned the cough syrup has been removed with immediate effect. He alleged that the BJP government removes anyone who tries to stop corruption. He demanded that Chief Minister Mohan Yadav take cognizance of the entire matter.

BJP spokesperson Dr. Hitesh Vajpayee countered the Congress's allegations. He said that Congress's job is to make accusations, while our job is to run the government. Vajpayee said that Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla simply meant that it would be premature to reach any conclusion before the investigation is complete.

In fact, children in Parasia, Umreth, Jata Chhapar, Badkuhi, and surrounding areas suffered from colds, coughs, and fevers. Following this, their families purchased cough syrups from local doctors and medical stores and administered them to them.

Summary

It is reported that within a few days, the children stopped urinating, causing considerable distress to the families. As their conditions worsened, the children were admitted to Parasia and Chhindwara hospitals, and several had to be referred to Nagpur. Six children have died so far during treatment.
