over the east-central Arabian Sea. As a direct result of this, the IMD has
issued a yellow advisory for Mumbai and Thane for the day of Monday, which

The fishing activities around Gujarat’s south and north
shores have been banned, and authorities have begun evacuating people in
districts along the sea in anticipation of cyclone ‘Biporjoy,’ which is
expected to make landfall along the Saurashtra-Kutch coasts as a very severe
cyclonic storm, according to officials who spoke on Monday. In this regard, officials in the coastal
region of Devbhumi Dwarka have stated that over 1,300 people have been
relocated to safer areas as of right now.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted on Monday that Cyclone “Biparjoy” will make landfall near Jakhau port in Gujarat’s Kutch region on Thursday afternoon as a “very severe cyclonic storm” with maximum wind speed of up to 150 km per hour. Authorities have reportedly begun evacuating people living near the water in the coastal districts of Kutch, Porbandar, Devbhumi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Junagadh, and Morbi, and have banned fishing activity and raised warning signals at ports.

5:40 pm: The National Crisis Management Committee was updated by Gujarat’s chief secretary on the local government’s preparations for the cyclonic storm ‘Biparjoy’. 21,000 boats have been stored. Evacuation preparations include a list of susceptible villages. The state will deploy 10 SDRF teams.
5:45 pm: Before cyclone Biparjoy’s Monday landfall, Gujarat chief secretary Raj Kumar reviewed coastal preparations. The state relief commissioner, Alok Kumar Pandey, said the state has 12 NDRF and SDRF teams. 24,000 coastal boats are moved to safer locations.
First, residents within 5 km of the coast would be relocated. The 5–10 km residents would be relocated soon. Pandey stated the entire area between Mandvi and Jakhau would be evacuated owing to the landing. Schools and government agencies are preparing shelters and food packs. Vehicles will be stopped when wind speeds exceed 60 kmph.
6:30 pm: Biparjoy Cyclone is expected to bring rain to most of northwest India, including Delhi.
7:45 pm: As a result of the cyclone, 56 trains were cancelled today in the parts of Gujarat that were hit by Biparjoy, and another 95 trains would be suspended from tomorrow till June 15th: Western Railway.
