Cyclone Biparjoy Live Updates: Mumbai and Gujarat are on high alert as Prime Minister Modi conducts a meeting to assess the situation.
On Sunday, the previously severe cyclonic storm known as
Biparjoy evolved into an extremely severe cyclonic storm while it was located
over the east-central Arabian Sea. As a direct result of this, the IMD has
issued a yellow advisory for Mumbai and Thane for the day of Monday, which
indicates strong winds in a few specific locations. There were reports of roofs
blown off of some homes in slum colonies as a result of the severe winds that
blew across portions of the city throughout the course of the weekend.
Officials from the IMD noted that this was to be expected owing to the impact of
the storm.
