DCW Chief Swati Maliwal's Hospital 'Dharna' Amid Rape Case Controversy
Swati Maliwal, the head of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), engaged in a "dharna" at a hospital, asserting that she was barred from meeting the 16-year-old girl allegedly raped by a senior Delhi government official.
Accusing the Delhi Police of engaging in hooliganism, Maliwal spent the night at the hospital. She questioned why she was being denied access when the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights chairperson was granted a meeting with the victim's mother.
The victim, who endured months of sexual assault resulting in pregnancy, saw the arrest of government official Premoday Khakha (51) and his wife Seema Rani (50) on Monday.
The minor had been living with the accused couple after her father's passing, and the Delhi government suspended Khakha following the allegations.
Maliwal's actions highlight the urgency and sensitivity surrounding the case, as public figures demand accountability and justice for the victim.
