Delhi CM hiding something? Kejriwal skipped ED's third summon in a row
Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, has chosen to defy the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) summon, dismissing the notice as 'illegal.' In a written reply, Kejriwal expressed his willingness to cooperate but raised concerns about the agency's alleged intentions, accusing them of aiming to hinder his election campaign.
AAP alleges ED's motive to summon and arrest Kejriwal
An official from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) stated, "Ready to cooperate in ED investigation but the agency's notice is illegal. Their intention is to arrest Arvind Kejriwal. They want to stop him from election campaign," as reported by ANI. This marks the third instance where Kejriwal has refused to appear before the federal agency, with previous summonses on November 2 and December 21.
BJP- Kejriwal hiding something
Shehzad Poonawalla, the national spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), asserted that Kejriwal's decision to skip the ED summons indicates a desire to hide information. He stated, "This shows that there is something to hide, and that is why he is acting like an absconder. Courts have not given bail to Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, and the courts have established that there is a money trail, despite all this they are playing the same victim card."
During a press conference, Priyanka Kakkar, AAP's chief national spokesperson, addressed questions regarding Kejriwal's response to the ED's summons. Kakkar emphasized the party's commitment to acting within the bounds of the law and stated, "Our legal team will be better equipped to answer this question. We will act as per the law."
ED arrested Manish Sisodia
The ED had issued a summons to Kejriwal in connection with a money laundering case linked to the excise policy on January 3. Notably, in February 2023, Delhi's Deputy CM Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI for alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of the now-scrapped excise policy. AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh faced a similar arrest in October 2023. The ED, having arrested at least 14 individuals, is seeking court permission to investigate AAP as a beneficiary of the "proceeds of crime."
