Allegations of Illegal Gain and Defamatory Statements
In the lawsuit, Diwakar and Das accuse MS Dhoni of unlawfully gaining Rs 15 crore and seek directions to prevent him from making defamatory statements against them. The plaintiffs, recognized business figures with an unblemished reputation, emphasize their integrity and respect within their industry.
Background of the Relationship
The suit reveals that MS Dhoni and the plaintiffs were once close friends and business partners. However, a recent dispute arose concerning the Memorandum of Understanding and Letter of Authorization dated May 17, 2017, leading to a misunderstanding in their friendship.
Legal Notices and Counterclaims
Following the disagreement, MS This is what we found at the Ram Sharad Kothari Smriti Sangh in AyodhyaDhoni issued a legal notice on February 4, 2023, alleging a breach of agreement by the plaintiffs. Importantly, the notice did not include any accusation of cheating involving Rs. 15 crore. The plaintiffs promptly responded to the legal notice on March 2, 2023.
Surprisingly, MS Dhoni, through Power of Attorney holder Seemant Lohani, filed a complaint on October 27, 2023, before the Judicial Magistrate in Ranchi, Jharkhand, claiming that the plaintiffs cheated him of Rs. 15 crores. The plaintiffs argue that these allegations lack basis, evidence, and are intended to tarnish their reputations.
Plaintiffs Deny Wrongdoing
The lawsuit asserts that the accusations made by MS Dhoni are wild, false, baseless, vindictive, malicious, and unfounded. This marks the first instance where Dhoni has claimed such a substantial amount against the plaintiffs, and they argue that the allegations are defamatory and without merit.
The case is set to be heard on January 29, where the Delhi High Court will further examine the claims and counterclaims in this legal dispute between the former business partners.
