Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) is extremely poor

Indeed, as the winter intensifies in Delhi, the air has once again become toxic. The air quality index (AQI) is rapidly deteriorating due to the drop in temperature. On Thursday morning, Delhi's average AQI was recorded at 349, which falls in the 'very poor' category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the AQI has reached severe levels at many monitoring stations. Cold winds are trapping pollutants in the air, worsening the situation.

The AQI in many areas of Delhi has exceeded 400, falling into the "severe" category. Wazirpur was the worst affected, with an AQI of 406. Other affected areas include:

Rohini - 400

Vivek Vihar - 400

Bawana - 405

Anand Vihar - 390

Nehru Nagar (Lajpat Nagar) - 395

People living in these areas are experiencing breathing difficulties. Experts say that PM2.5 and PM10 levels are very high, contributing to lung and heart diseases.

Situation is also bad in NCR cities

Air quality in Delhi and the entire NCR remains in the "very poor" category. The AQI was recorded at 364 in Noida, 375 in Greater Noida, 357 in Ghaziabad, and 300 in Gurugram. Construction work and traffic jams in Greater Noida and Noida are believed to be the main reasons. According to the Air Quality Early Warning System, there will be no significant improvement in the next 24 hours. The AQI is expected to remain between "severe and very poor" until November 28-29.
