Delhi woke up to another day of 'very poor' air quality on Tuesday, registering an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 323, according to data from the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR-India).

IIT Delhi reported an AQI of 321, while the Airport (Terminal 3) area recorded 336 and Pusa measured 337, as per SAFAR.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported AQI levels at 7:41 am, with Anand Vihar at 374, Jahangirpuri at 399, Lodhi Road at 315, and New Moti Bagh at 370.

As per the established scale, an Air Quality Index of 0 to 100 is considered good, 100 to 200 is moderate, 200 to 300 is poor, 300 to 400 is very poor, and 400 to 500 or above is severe.

The Air Quality Index serves as a user-friendly tool, condensing complex air quality data into a single numerical value, a specific nomenclature, and a corresponding color for easy comprehension.

It's noteworthy that Delhi witnessed an improvement in air quality recently, prompting the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to lift restrictions imposed under GRAP 4. This includes permitting trucks and buses (except for BS-3 and BS-4 petrol and diesel vehicles) to enter the city and lifting the ban on ongoing construction activities.
