Dhankhar Gotra from the Jat Community in Uttar Pradesh has taken a major decision in a recent Khap Panchayat to ban the entry of leaders from Congress(INC) and Trinamool Congress(TMC).

Where did it all start?

The political environment of the country stirred up when Kalyan Banerjee, an MP from TMC mimicked Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar from the floor of the Parlament. The incident took place on December 19, when TMC leader Kalyan showcased a mimicry performance imitating Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. Rahul Gandhi was seen enjoying the performance and recording a video of the same. This took place when MP's were protesting against the suspension of 141 MP's from the ongoing winter session of parliament regarding their decorum.

Vice President in Grief

Vice President addressed the issue from his chair in Rajya Sabha and expressed his deep disappointment and grief on the incident which hurt his sentiments. The Dhankhar Gotra along with other members of the Jat community organized a meeting and decided to ban leaders of Congress and Trinamool Congress from entering 62 villages in Western UP, where the presence of Dhankhar Gotra is significant.

People from Dhankhar Gotra are present in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan. The sentiments of the community were hurt when the Vice President, who himself is also a Jat was insulted by the premise of the symbol of democracy i.e; the Parliament.

The Panchayat meeting, which took place on December 22, Friday, in the Ninana Village of the Bhagpat district of Uttar Pradesh took this strict decision.

The Panchayat also announced that they would stage a protest by encircling the parliament if the leaders who insulted the Vice President did not apologize for their acts.
