Drug Peddlers Fatally Stab CRPF Constable Along Assam Border
A tragic incident unfolded along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border, as a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan lost his life while another was injured in an attack by two alleged drug peddlers wielding a knife, according to local police reports on Thursday. The assailants have been apprehended.
The deceased soldier, identified as Sunil Kumar Pandey, hailed from Uttar Pradesh and was stationed at the 106 Battalion in Arunachal Pradesh.
During the operation, the two suspects launched a sudden knife attack on the CRPF personnel and managed to escape from the scene.
Tinsukia's Superintendent of Police, Gaurav Abhijit Dilip, stated, "Both soldiers were rushed to the hospital, where Pandey was declared dead upon arrival, while the other soldier is currently receiving medical treatment. Subsequently, the two suspects were identified through CCTV footage from the area and were arrested on Thursday morning."
An official mentioned that Pandey's body has been transported to a local hospital for a post-mortem examination and will later be sent to his residence in Uttar Pradesh following the necessary formalities."
