Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has once again received a summon from the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The political environment in Delhi has again stirred up regarding the Delhi Liquor Excise policy.

Recurring Summons from ED

This is the fourth time the ED has issued a summons for the Delhi Chief Minister. The Enforcement Directorate has been issuing summons to question him about the Delhi Liquor Police money-laundering case. Former minister Manish Sisodia is currently serving jail time for the same.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been ignoring the summons for a long time. He has not been adhering to the legal process.

The Aam Aadmi Party has been calling the issuing of the summons from the ED a motivated move taken under the influence of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The ED has demanded the presence of Arvind Kejriwal before January 18.

The Chief Minister of the union territory was first summoned by the ED on November 2, then on Dec 21, and finally on January 3 before he received the fourth.

The Delhi government's liquor excise policy of 2021-22 has allegedly been misused by the Delhi government to take bribes and favor wholesalers. The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, V.K. Saxena, scrapped the policy and ordered a CBI probe into the matter after which the Enforcement Directorate filed a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

ED being a frontal organization of BJP

The Aam Aadmi Party has time and again called the summons by the ED illegal and motivated. Gopal Rai, the environment minister of Delhi, has called out the Enforcement Directorate as the Frontal Organization of BJP and has asked the ED to stop sending such illegal notices to CM Kejriwal.

AAP has also raised questions about the timing of these notices, stating that previously, they announced that CM Kejriwal would leave for Goa on January 18 for the election campaign, and suddenly, the ED has issued a notice against him, which cannot be a coincidence. Kejriwal is scheduled to leave for Goa for Lok Sabha campaigning. He also campaigned in Gujarat just after he was supposed to appear in front of the ED.

Arvind Kejriwal targetted BJP

On receiving a summons from the ED, Arvind Kejriwal accused the BJP of targeting him with the motive of arresting him on false charges of corruption and preventing him from campaigning in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He also stated that the ED has not yet found any evidence against him because he has not done anything wrong and that he is honest and not corrupt.
