On January 31, the Election Commission will meet with representatives from all political parties to discuss election-related matters. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, along with ECs Anup Chandra Pandey and Arun Goel, recently addressed a press conference, highlighting the review of poll preparedness for the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in Andhra Pradesh.
Earlier, the Election Commission of India conducted a two-day conference with the Chief Electoral Officers of all States and Union Territories to evaluate the state of readiness for the impending polls. The conference, held in New Delhi at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM), focused on the preparedness for the upcoming general elections.
In the 2019 general elections, the BJP secured a historic victory by winning 303 seats out of 542, while the Congress secured only 52 seats. With just six months left until the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, political parties have already initiated campaign strategies to connect with voters.
Discussions are ongoing among the INDIA partners to finalize a seat-sharing agreement for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. BJP national president JP Nadda recently arrived in Guwahati for crucial party meetings in the state. However, seat-sharing within the INDIA bloc remains a contentious issue, and the allocation of seats is of particular significance for the Congress following significant defeats in the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan.
